La traversée du désert n'aura pas duré quarante jours mais quatre longues années... Avec Панихида, Батюшка renaît enfin de ses cendres et, bien que désormais seul (ou plus exactement entouré de deux chanteurs), Христофор accomplit un miracle. Il s'inscrit dans la continuité de Литоургиiа avec un black metal orthodoxe qui nous convie ici à une cérémonie dédiée aux morts. Sa vision est englobante : les mélodies, la gravité et le silence font toucher le paradis ; l'agressivité est luciférienne.

Every release I listen to is going to be compared to the standard that this album sets. This is 9 years of work compressed into 61 minutes of absolute glory and a proof of Wann's deep love for the genre. Holy shit, what an album. Truly, what an album.

There's nothing left to take away here - the composition and execution is thoughtful and sure-handed, the result focused and powerful. This is black metal long removed from icy Norwegian forests; instead, it trawls shadowy inner currents, where spirits dwell. Abandon hope, but discover oneself, all ye who enter.

Tout est une question de perspective. En regardant la pochette d'Algleymi, on se dira : "c'est un constat d'échec de l'humanité face aux puissances cosmiques". Mais le gigantisme de cette silhouette est un signe que Misþyrming veut plutôt s'emparer de cette puissance et le black metal le confirmera très vite. Il est plus maîtrisé, massif et épique. Si le chant est déjà impressionnant, dégageant plus de haine, les guitares sont de leur côté absolument monumentales. Un chef-d'œuvre du genre !
